After releasing
their highly appreciated selftitled debut and follow up ‘The Buzz
Electric’, The Apers are back once more with ‘Skies Are Turning
Blue’, their 3rd & best album so far! 14 brand new tunes that
showcase their growth: It’s more pop, it’s more rock, but
it sure as hell still sounds like the good ol’ Apers! It’s
exciting and familiar at the same time, like sex with your ex-girlfriend!
After the
release of ‘The Buzz Electric’ in 2003 The Apers have been
touring relentlessly and played over 200 shows including a very succesfull
USA coast to coast trip with the Groovie Ghoulies, an MTV appearance and
festivals too many to mention. And with ‘Skies Are Turning Blue’
under their belt, they will hit the roadsome more for sure!
‘Skies
Are Turning Blue’ is the outcome of hard work, amazing songwriting
skills and the true love for rock ‘n’ roll bands of the past
and present. Recorded Feb. 2005 at the AG Studio with Theo de Jong of
The Shavers working the machinery. This is the feel good rock ‘n’
roll record for the summer of 2005 and beyond! Enjoy!
Factoids:
- The Apers toured half the world
- Little Steven already played the song ‘Annabelle’ as ‘Coolest
Song In The World’ in his radio show
- ‘Little Steven’s Underground
Garage’
- The Apers are 4 nice guys, really!

Review taken from Insider:
When you hear the name The Apers you might think you'll get a funpunk
band telling stupid jokes about monkeys. Well forget those thoughts. The
Apers bring mature punkrock with a big wink at rock 'n roll that brings
up similarities in my head with Social Distortion, Sweet Poison, Reno
Divorce, Guitar Gangsters, etc. So if you like any of those bands and
their style you should check this album.
It got the more up-tempo songs and also the ones we like to call the slower
songs. Saying that I should add the following in the same breath, we got
lyrics about love, friendship, broken hearts but also about having good
times with your friends, society, everyday life,...
The album starts off with a great up-tempo song that makes you obey the
chorus so don't be surprised that when you're listening to it your hips,
legs, arms start to move out of control.
The sound and production is very clean wich is (in my opinion) important
for this type of music because of the occasionally high tunes.
The only minus point I can say is that the voice sometimes is a bit too
sharp, but that's just too be able to say something less positive.
At the end of those 43 minutes of punkrock music I can only say I really
enjoyed this album and it will be in my cd-player for quite some time.
Cloudy skies will definatly turn blue when playing this one.
PS: Hint: this is also a great album to chill on while driving.
