United:
The punk rock sweetheats of Dallas Texas are back with a ten song slab
of pop-punk stupidity that you've just gotta tap your foot to. The band
doesn't break the pop-punk mold, but they're still a hell of a lot of
fun to listen to. Pajama Party and Girls + Summer = Fun, really showcase
singer/songwriter Chrissy's ability to write fun upbeat tunes that blend
punk and pop together flawlessly. Like every other Darlington release
there's a few songs that drag the album down a bit, but the album's still
more solid than their last release. Just a little too short with one too
many filler tracks to keep it from being the perfect summer release.

Wave Zine:
I could probably think of a dozen good things to say about this album,
but the bottom line is that IT STILL ISN’T GIRLTROVERSY! That being
said, though, I think this album comes in solidly at # 2 as the best thing
they’ve done. And for that, I’m thankful. The chronology of
Darlington albums has confused me to this day. But regardless, I heard
Girltroversy first and was disappointed with everything after it. I found
a lot of it to be too rough, too snotty, and not nearly as catchy. However,
Darlington has returned to form and given me hope yet again for slick,
dumb, pop punk. Some of it has the boyish charm of earlier work. Some
of it is pretty raunchy. But overall it’s very listenable. The vocals
are dually distinct and yet the epitome of excellent pop punk singing.
The recording is clean and fresh. And the melodies are just right: fun,
repetitive, and (most importantly) to the point. After ten short songs,
I
said to myself, “Over already?” What more is there to say?
Fans will love it. For those uninitiated, it’s a
wonderful warm-up to Girltroversy (Jeez, how many times do I need to mention
this album before you go and buy it?!). And if you just plain want another
power-packed honey-dipped pop punk album on your shelf, it’s definitely
one to grab. Another quality Stardumb release. -- Mark Hughson

E-Zine:
There’s a record company for every band. The album’s inside
artwork shows the band’s rejection letters from several record companies.
It kinda puts the dot on the i. Darlington’s sense of irony is almost
too much to bear; their punk rock-with-a-smile is far from fresh, new
or challenging. Well, at least for the more experienced listener. The
14-year old kid next door will probably love Moron-A-Thon, give me the
finger, and call me an old fuck. The band’s friendly punk rock has
a certain charm, sure. They have this
Happy Days thing going on, but to call it the new emo (as it says in the
band’s bio) would be stretching our sense of humor a little too
far. Or is it just part of the fun? Is all of it middle of the road then,
you
ask. No, it isn’t. “Girl+Summer=Fun” is actually a really
cool song, reminding me of The Ramones. And “My Corolla” (c’mon
guys, make a shirt with this title) is the anthem for everyone who still
drives his very first car. You’ll also hear a little Travolta’s
creeping up in some of the songs. But the Moron-A-Thon winner is “ATM”,
the fastest, the raunchiest, the best. By far. Unfortunately, that’s
not enough to save the album. -- Marc
