SONIC
DOLLS
(February 2003)
1. Aren't you guys too old to play punkrock?
ToMo_01: Well we have an average age of 29,75 years and we still feel
young enough to do this kind of music. Look at all the others - we are
not the oldest for sure, although some of us look like this...
Eric: Dear sorry old drum computer! What's that with your calculating
errors...?
Frankie: The only chance for Peter to get old age pension is to rock (....
or clean the floors)! I don't wanna pay fo him in future. So, we don't
have alternatives.
2. ToMo_01, are you a Star Wars fan or just a freak or just ripping
off Boris the Sprinkler? In other words: What's up with that weird name?
ToMo_01: I don't like Star Wars that much but Boris are great! You think
this name is weird? I don't think so! But the name has a different origin!
I'm a drum computer and I always do what the others post in my brain!
As the others installed beat-software and clicked on my steal-body to
programm beats (actually there is only one beat - so you can compare me
with your old commodore c16) they were searching for a name. Tomo_01 is
a funny name for a drummer and somehow it has something to do with my
initials.
Eric: Forget it, just a FREAK! Possibly Korean though. But weren't Boris
using real names, just those numbers added?
3. Eric, do you really like Devo or do you just say that to sound
interesting?
Eric: I'm not sure if a collection of all my turds since birth filed carefully
on shelves in my living room would be slightly more interesting - date,
time, weight and place with it, of course. Or some funny looking disease,
at least I would get the laughs. But wait. Probably I just DO like DEVO
and my collection of their records should be even more impressive than
the fact I might be found a DE-VO-tee anyway, a spud. Beautiful! Not to
forget about my stamp collection. Oh, maybe I'm just lame to the bone.
You're confusing me. Duty now for the future!
4. Hey Frankie, a few weeks ago was the first time you were sober
on stage with the Sonic Dolls. How did that feel?
Frankie: Like a broitje kaas on speed !
Eric: Wisdom is ours!!!
5. Don't you agree that "Dance With Me Tonight" was
the best song on The European Poppunk Virus #1?
Eric: Took us 10 minutes to write. Go and figure. Haha, always thought
one rehearsal a month is still too much.
6. Isn't it hard for you to sing in English?
Frankie: Eric sings in English ??????
Eric: Indeed it's hard for me to sing. If we ever manage to finish a video-clip
it's gonna be with Dutch subtitles, fake maybe. We're multilingual as
can be. Also our next album will come with a Morse code extra track. Get
your decoders or grandfathers ready.
7. What are the side effects of wearing Converse Chucks for 15
years?
Eric: I - fungus, athlete's foot
II - putting out records on Stardumb
III - lack of brain and humour (might have also been the brain slugs)
VI - Not wearing Chucks anymore after they blew the well deserved endorsement
deal
V - Being asked questions about the Richies
8. Are you jealous of the Richies?
Eric: Yes. And they deserve it. In Germany there is a common saying for
having had a brilliant time: "Last night I had the booze, the hookers
and the Richies" (invented by Gerhard Schröder approx. 1998
- I think there was also something about black jack, LSD and elections
following in that speech). The older they grow the sexier they get, i
guess. Vote responsibly! Vote for the Richies!
9. Are you jealous of Wizo and Terrorgruppe?
Eric: No.
10. Did you recently join any violents cults and have sex with
babies? It's pretty 'hip' in Germany.
Eric: Who are you to decide what's 'hip' in our country, eh? But no hot
news on our side. It's been a rather long time since we all joined the
Dolls, and that's probably as crass as can be already. Joining the Stardumb
bunch might count for this a tiny bit though. I always thought it was
kind of obscure being paid in bottled blood. I wish I had used the word
'bizarre' in that sentence. Since this wasn't good enough for any last
words: Live long and prosper! And I can even do better on that: Don't
you think the ancient Greek culture was quite lovely?
