3 1/2 INCH FLOPPY

(February 2003)

1. Aren't you the same guys as the Zatopeks and if yes, why do have this second band then?

Sebby: Yeah, all 4 Zatopeks are also in 3 1/2 Inch Floppy. This was originally the first band. We started about 3 years ago, and when we started the Zatopeks we carried on with this band cause it was still fun.

2. Since when is the violin a punkrock instrument?

Sebby: Well, Rachel who used to be in the band is a really good violin player, so since she was the only band member who was a good musician we thought had to take advantage of that. And we're still planning to use an accordion at some point... Will says he's gonna play it, but I'm not sure we'll let him.

Will: You should see what we did with the strings before we recorded!

3. Super caps or beer?

Sebby: Both together is pretty good. But I guess beer is better, cause I think if we could take supercaps all the time, we'd probably die cause we'd never eat.

4. Do you really like the typically English food?

Sebby: Yeah we do. Greasy fried breakfasts, fish and chips...maybe not very healthy but it tastes good.

Jo: You can't really fault the English breakfast (except for coronary reasons..), or fish'n'chips.  But then over here a lot of places don't have mayonnaise because the Brits seem to think its too "exotic", and chips without mayonnaise is like Yorkshire pudding without Roast beef(A well-illustrated, multi-cultural comparison I think)

Sebby: I can't agree with that though...I think chips with mayonnaise is horrible!

5. Don´t you think that Punkrock in England is almost dead?

Sebby: No, it's not dead. There's not really much of a pop-punk scene, but there are a lot of punk bands here. Whether they're any good is a different question. Most of them play hardcore or ska, and I'm not really into that.

Jo: Not quite dead but comatose.  There's some good bands over here but then a lot of punk is fashion-following and bland, like with anything.

6. What´s the difference between 3 And A Half Inch Floppy and the Zatopeks?

Jo: Normally girly backing vocals, the occasional trombone and lively basslines The Zatopeks are apparently Buddy Holly's grandsons, so they inherited that kind of sound, but me and Davey missed out on the rock'n'roll heritage.  My grandad was a farmer called Harold.

Dave: Yeah, all the rock'n'roll songs that Will writes go to the Zatopeks, and we get the rest.

7. Who is the old man on the cover of your "?Stories From Sleepless Nights?" record?

Jo: Sammie's lover?

Sebby: He's called Harold Bishop, and he's a character from an Australian soap opera called "Neighbours". He's really famous in the UK, and Sammie met him when he was in Melbourne a couple of years ago.

8. How would you describe your sound?

Sebby: The sound of Pete crawling naked into Stefan's bed in the middle of the night. Basically we don't sound very much like the song on the Virus.

9. Did you ask the girls to join the band to hopefully get some attention from the press?

Jo: Yeah. But it didn't work and now they're just stuck with me.

10. Don't you think Bob Dylan sucks for 30 years already?

Will: Blood On The Tracks (1975), Time Out Of Mind (1997). I rest my case.
